OVERHEAD CRANE MAINTENANCE TRAINING – 2026

 

This training is validated LCDP -2024-23 for the period 2023-2026 for 5 CPD POINTS by the Lifting Equipment Engineering Association of South Africa (LEEASA), registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)

 

The overhead crane maintenance training is designed for:

  • Crane/ Lifting Equipment User’s – Engineers, Production Managers, Supervisors (aka Designated persons according to SANS) Technicians, Artisans and Assistants who are involved in day-to-day use and maintenance of overhead cranes, hoists and general lifting equipment.

The training has a comprehensive focus on product knowledge and information surrounding Legislation and Standards, where we transfer more than seventy (70) years of our experience in the industry to people who can use the knowledge gained to the benefit of the individual, the company and the industry.

  1. Terminology
  2. OHS Act (Driven Machinery Regulations–18) or Mines Health and Safety Act (as amended)
  3. Classification of cranes
  4. Summary of BS466 (crane specification)
  5. Summary of SANS 60204 (Electrical specifications for cranes)
  6. Summary of SANS 10375: 2006 & 2018 (Inspection and testing of overhead cranes)
  7. Summary of SANS 500 (Examination of manual chain blocks & chain lever hoist)
  8. Summary of SANS 4308 & 4309 (Selection & Inspection of wire ropes)
  9. Load test procedures
  10. Recommended maintenance schedule
  11. Crane record/log books

The course is held at Morris Material Handling Training Centre, at Apex, Benoni. The route map will be e-mailed to delegates on request.

Should companies want training to be conducted at their venue, this can be arranged if there are ten (10) delegates or more. The facilities and equipment requirement will be forwarded to you.

 

The training dates for 2026 to be held at our Training Centre are as following:

1st intake –  week of 16th – 20th  February 2026

2nd intake –  week of 13th – 17th  April  2026

3rd intake –  week of 08th – 12th June 2026

4th intake –  week of 17th – 21th August 2026

5th Intake – week of 05th – 09th October 2026

6th Intake –  week of 16th  – 20th November 2026

  • PRICE PER DELEGATE is R13, 500,00 (Thirteen Thousand and Five Hundred Rands) excluding VAT or R15 525,00 (Fifteen Thousand five hundred and twenty-five Rands) Including VAT.
  • A 10% discount will apply if there are more than five (5) delegates from one company.
  • Accommodation and travelling expenses for the delegate(s) are not included in the price and will be for your account.
  • The course starts at 08H00 and finishes at 17H00 from Monday to Thursday and 08h00 to 12h00 (latest) on Friday.
  • Lunch and tea are served daily.

CONFIRMATION IS DONE AND FEES ARE PAYABLE AT LEAST TWO (2) WEEKS, PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF THE TRAINING.
