Bosch Projects/Illovo Sugar chooses Morris for the supply of 3 Cranes for the recent Ubombo Sugar Mill upgrade in Swaziland
Morris/ABUS have designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned 3 cranes as part of a huge upgrade at Ubombo Sugar in Swaziland, one of the Illovo Group’s larger sugar milling operations.
The Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management for the project was Bosch Projects.
A Morris/ABUS 45/5ton X 18m span Double Girder crane was installed in the Mill House for maintenance in the Mill house of the Crusher etc.
A Morris/ABUS 32ton X 21m span Double Girder Crane was installed in the Power House for maintenance of the new Turbine.
A specially designed 2ton X 4,25ton Morris Underslung carne was installed for the maintenance of the sugar centrifugals.
All the above cranes were successfully installed and handed over by our Richards Bay Branch as per the timing schedule required by Bosch Projects.
Andrew Cruickshank, Project Manager for this prestigious project, comments on the overall project and Morris/Crane Aid’s performance as follows:-
“The project was to increase the overall sugar mill capacity from 410 tons cane per hour (TCH) to 500 TCH. The Morris cranes were installed to increase the lifting capacity in the mill house due to the new larger mills that were being installed and to also install and maintain the new 25MW turbine installed in the powerhouse. The cranes were installed to align completion with project equipment installation and following commissioning completion have performed as required.
