Debswana
Debswana diamond mining operations are situated at Jwaneng, Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa.
Jwaneng is the richest diamond mine in the world by value and is situated 170 kilometers west of the capital Gaborone. Orapa, Letlhakane and the youngest Damtshaa mines are located roughly 240 kilometers west of Francistown. The Orapa pipe is the world’s second largest diamond-producing kimberlite pipe. Jwaneng Mine is the flagship of Debswana’s mining portfolio due to the substantially higher revenue obtained for its gems.
All Debswana mines are open pit operations and the Jwaneng mine is undergoing a landmark expansion which will see the pit elevated to the status of a superpit. A project dubbed Cut 8 will see the Jwaneng pit go to a depth of over 650 meters.
Crane Aid East Rand have been awarded a 3 year contract with Debswana Diamond mines Botswana for all 3 mines. Orapa, Lethlakane and Damtshaa Gold mines are the main contract holders .Contract was awarded 24 September 2012 and work started in March 2013.
The 3 year contract has a total of R5 928 723.30 (Five million Nine Hundred and Twenty Eight Thousand Seven hundred and Twenty three rand thirty cents) signed by both parties and approved in September 2012.
Our contract includes but is not limited to the following services provided to Debswana Diamond Mining companies.
Service & repairs to all makes of Electric overhead cranes, electric rope hoists, electric chain hoists, mechanical chain blocks, and lever blocks
This contract has brought in the following additional business for Crane Aid & Morris
- Repairs, erection, modification & refurbishment to electric overhead travelling cranes, electric rope hoists & chain hoist
- Modifications to upgrade electrical & mechanical units
- Complete overhaul of all types of overhead cranes & hoist units
- Installation & calibration of load limiting devices
- Supply & installation of Festoon system
- Supply & installation of down shop leads system
- Supply & installation Variable Speed Drives, pendant stations, ultimate limits switches.
Debswana Diamond Mines – Orapa, Lethlakane and Damtshaa have a total of plus minus 90 Cranes currently being Serviced, maintained and load tested by our Technical teams
